Starring Kangana Ranaut in late chief minister of Tamil Nadu, Jayalalitha's role, 'Thalaivi' commenced its shoot in Chennai today.

The film is based on the life story of Jayalalitha, who went on to carve a name for herself in Tamil Nadu politics after the demise of MGR.

Arvind Swamy will be seen as MGR in this prestigious project, which is being made on a massive scale.

Acclaimed filmmaker, Vijay is directing this film, which also touches the lesser known side of Jayalalitha, a firebrand politician.

Vishnu Vardhan Induri is producing this film along with Shailesh R Singh. It will have a simultaneous release in Telugu, Tamil and Hindi.
