After clinching the T20 series against West Indies with 2-1, India started off the ODI series with a big defeat. The Caribbean team has triumphed over India by 8 wickets in first match at Chennai.
In the first innings, West Indies took an early advantage as Indian top order failed to put up a great partnership. As a result, India was at 80-3 in its 19th over. And the middle order batsmen Shreyas Iyer (70) and Rishabh Pant (71) settled at crease for next 20 overs and built a decent partnership of 114 runs. WI bowlers Cottrell, KMA Paul, AS Joseph have picked up 2 wickets each. Though West Indies lost an early wicket of Ambris, Hetmyer and Hope have slowly cemented themselves on crease and their solid partnership of more than 200 runs led India to defeat.
