Pankaj Tripathi To Play Alive Man Who Was Declared Dead In Official Records In Zee5 Film – Kaagaz

In a new film titled Kaagaz, Pankaj Tripathi will play a character inspired by Lal Bihari Mritak, a man who struggled to prove that he was alive after being declared dead in the land revenue records of Uttar Pradesh. It will be released on Zee5 on January 7, and will be directed by Satish Kaushik. Monal Gajjar, Mita Vashisht, Amar Upadhyay and Satish Kaushik will also star in pivotal roles in the satirical comedy, which will be a commentary on the flawed system of land resources. Pankaj called Kaagaz a 'brilliantly written' film in a statement. "It is quirky black comedy and depicts the humorous journey of a common man on the crisis of identity. My personality is going to be quite different from some of my recent ventures, and I'm excited to be part of an inspiring storey like that. It is necessary to hear this storey and I am certain that Zee5 will give it the reach it deserves," he said.

Director Satish Kaushik, who also plays a key role in Kaagaz, said “For the first time I remember reading about Lal Bihari Mritak's storey in the news, I was intrigued and inspired by his journey, so I did a lot of research on the events that took place in his life. Lal Bihari Mritak fought a long and hard fight for almost two decades to prove he alive, after he was declared dead in the records of the revenue department of the Uttar Pradesh government in 1976. Eventually, it felt to me that this storey deserved to be told to the world. On learning that there were many others in the state suffering a similar fate, he founded the Mritak Sangh.” Kaagaz is presented by Salman Khan Films with Satish Kaushik Entertainment Production and produced by Salma Khan, Nishant Kaushik and Vikas Malu. The film will also be released in select theatres in Uttar Pradesh, in addition to the online release.
