'Sonchiriya' director Abhishek Chaubey is all set to lead a biopic based on the life of Dhyan Chand, the legend of hockey. Ronnie Screwvala, a social media producer, shared this news and left everyone excited. A top star is expected to come on board to play the titular role whilst the casting is underway. In the meantime, Screwvala wrote on Twitter, "1500+ goals, 3 Olympic gold medals, and a storey of India’s pride. It gives us immense pleasure to announce our next with #AbhishekChaubey - a biopic on the Hockey Wizard of India- #DHYANCHAND." Dhyan Chand, one of the most celebrated players in hockey history, represented the Indian hockey team from 1925 to 1949 and scored over 1500+ goals in that period. He was even celebrated in 1956 with the Padma Bhushan and his birth anniversary is celebrated as the National Sports Day on August 29.
"Dhyan Chand is one of the greatest hockey players in the history of our National Sport, and it’s a matter of pride to direct his biopic. We had massive amount of research material in hand and honestly, every achievement of his life deserves a separate story in itself. I am grateful to have a brilliant creative force like Ronnie Screwvala backing the film, and we can’t wait to get started next year. Hoping to announce the lead actor soon."
