What life becomes overnight after being brutally attacked with acid cannot be put into words. Stealing your identity is beyond imaginable and in addition, the way society shuns you after being attacked accessorize the pain even more. The filmmaker Meghna Gulzar who has made efforts in showing the life of an acid attack survivor Laxmi Agarwal with film Chhapaak is highly laudable.

Deepika Padukone, who is playing the role of the victim, launched the title song today in Mumbai and the real victim Laxmi Agarwal was invited too. The title track, which is saddening and painful, made both Deepika Padukone and Laxmi Agarwal quite a bit emotional at the launch event.

The duo got emotional after Shankar Mahadevan sang a beautiful rendition of the Chhapaak title song. Deepika was seen hugging Laxmi who was broke down hearing the song. The actress also tried hard to hold back her tears. Earlier too, Deepika couldn’t stop getting emotional at the trailer launch of the film.

The song makes all of us cry as we imagine how the burn isn’t skin deep alone. It is the blazing of countless dreams, blistering of infinite hopes, and above all, the crumbling of humanity into ashes. It signifies just how brutal can humanity get.
