CM Jagans Hat-Trick U Turns

YS Jaganmohan Reddy, son of popular leader YS Rajasekhar Reddy, is carrying forward his father's legacy in politics. YSR was a mass leader who was known for keeping his word. Rajasekhar Reddy's popular one-liner "Mata Tappam, Madama Tippam" was a big hit with people. It had struck chords with people. The popular one-liner was the part of YSR's political campaign. This was later picked up by YS Jagan as well.

Cut to 2019 polls, Jagan had announced Navaratnalu as part of the poll promise. Jagan has promised to fulfill these Navaratnalu as soon as he comes to power. With Navaratnalu hitting the bull's eye, people voted Jagan to power. And CM Jagan has started implementing Navaratnalu schemes one after the other. But here is the problem. CM Jagan and his cabinet are saying, "Conditions Apply" on the scheme. This is now inviting a lot of flak from various sections of the people.

Particularly, Amma Vodi populist scheme got a huge publicity. It is a flagship programme of the government which provides financial assistance to every mother/guardian who sends their children to school from Class I to XII. But here is the twist.

Initially in June 2019 (June 19, 2019), state government announced that Amma Vodi scheme is applicable only to children who are studying in government schools. After drawing criticism, the government changed its mind and announced on June 23, 2019 that the students of private schools could also avail this benefit. And the latest Dec 27, 2019 announcement is a big shocker. It states that this is only applicable to the recognized Government schools and aided schools.

With these confusing statements from government on Amma Vodi, the students and parents are worried lot. This 'U Turn' act of Jagan is widely criticized. Netizens took to social media platforms and trending U Turn Jagan hashtag. Opposition parties too cornering Jagan for changing his promise.
