Sprinter Hima Das, who had brought home India's first-ever Gold Medal by winning at the U-20 World Athletics Championships, is the latest Indian sensation. It's raining praises for Hima for her spirit and dedication.

Hailing from Dhing village of Nagaon district in Assam, Hima belongs to an agricultural family. From playing football with local boys in the mud pits next to the rice fields, Hima has come a long way by standing top in world-level running competition.

Encouraging Hima and as a token of appreciation, along with praises, prizes too followed. Assam State Government has announced Rs 50 lakh as prize, whereas Karnataka state deputy chief minister Parameshwara has personally announced additional Rs 10 lakh from his academy. The state government of Assam stated that it would lend necessary support to Hima till 2020 Tokyo Olympics.

Entrepreneur and Mahindra Group Chairman Anand Mahindra has joined the legion of supporters of Hima. His tweet on Hima has gone viral. He took to Twitter and wrote, "Now all of us want to see @HimaDas8 on the Olympic podium. I know that you both @Ra_THORe @Adille1 have the expertise & passion to provide her the right training programme, but if there is a need for financial support beyond Govt. resources I am happy to contribute.."

Anand Mahindra is the first major Indian business tycoon to offer support to Hima and his support has been getting a lot of applause from netizens. Let's wait and see, who all will follow Anand Mahindra to back a talent like Hima Das.
