Azhar Wins Hyd Cricket Association Elections

Former Indian cricket team captain Mohammad Azharuddin has been elected as the president of the Hyderabad Cricket Association (HCA). The election for the president position was held on Friday on the directions of Telangana High Court.

The HCA has a total of 227 votes and 223 votes got polled. Right after the voting, the counting began and the 56 year old Hyderabadi batsmen secured 147 votes and emerged victorious. Azhar rivals Prakash Chand Jain got 73 votes while Dileep Kumar got just three votes.

 This marks a new beginning for Azhar who quit cricket indefinitely following the match-fixing allegations. Azhar has been fighting against HCA for the last couple of years. He alleged that the cricket association is not doing adequate measure to produce a world class player from Hyderabad.

Azhar has played 99 Test matches and 334 ODIs in his 15 years of career.
